Life Update: Greensboro

thumbnail2

Sooo I moved to Greensboro! If you remember in my last post from July where I talked about wanting to share some really exciting news well that was it! It’s been a crazy ride this past month and a half but I’m all for it. 🙂 All I can think of is how great God has been in this huge transitional season in my life and just how unfailing his love is for me.  Which is why I want to quote one of my favorite songs “Do It Again” from Elevation Worship:

“I’ve seen You move, come move the mountains/ And I believe, I’ll see You do it again/ You made a way, where there was no way/ And I believe, I’ll see you do it again”.

He truly moved some big mountains in his timing and will continue to do so. With that being said I have been beyond exciting to have Greensboro as my new city and all the new and exciting things God has in store for me here. 🙂

A Hallway of Praise

thumbnail“Until God opens the next door, praise him in the hallway.” I can’t count how many times in the past I’ve seen this Pinterest quote but today it truly hit home.

As I close the one familiar door I’ve known my entire life and turn ahead to see the numerous doors before me; I slightly get filled with uncertainty. Here I am in the hallway. As I’m walking, I see doors in all shapes and sizes and begin to wonder when one will open.

Are you currently in the hallway? Are you making big changes in your life right now? Or are you currently waiting for an answer to your prayers?

All I can say is trust God in the uncertainties.

How often we forget to give thanks to him during the transitional seasons in our lives. Its in these particular moments that we truly experience his goodness. Like wow he really did THAT. God really came through with it. My dreams and desires are no longer just that; they are visible. He’s shifting my life in various ways and I’m trying my best to be patient enough to see the beautiful outcome he has for me.

So as I continue down the hallway, I praise him for all the smaller yet significant moments that led to this huge transitional period in my life. THANK YOU GOD. You’re a good good father. It’s who you are. 😉 (*inserts Good Good Father lyrics by Chris Tomlin)

“I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide/ But I know we’re all searching/ For  answers only you provide/ ‘Cause you know just what we need/ Before we say a word/

You’re a good good father/ It’s who you are, it’s who you are, its who you are/ And I’m loved by you…”

So whoever else is in the same transitional season as me, will you join me?

I’ll be here in the hallway singing songs of praise for what has been and what will be.

On another note, I hope to share with everyone my good news when I’m ready. 🙂

Why I chose the blog name Cisne.Rose.

Hey everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well! Today I wanted to explain why I gave my blog a makeover. So you’re probably asking why “Cisne.Rose.”? My last name is Cisneros and pronounced in English as “Sis-nair-rose”. Since I knew the meaning of my first name Patricia meant noble. I often wondered what my last name meant and where it originated from. I did some researching and came across multiple sources saying my last name originated from Spain and meant a place of swans. The word for swans in Spanish is cisne. I immediately felt a beautiful connection to these beautiful creatures. They swim about the water gracefully and when they fall in love they become soulmates for life. I started playing around with the word cisne for my new blog title but wasn’t fully satisfied and felt like something was missing. I wanted to incorporate the ending part “ros” of my last name in some form. Eventually I did a play on words and decided with “rose”  like the flower. I thought to myself roses symbolize love and what would make me happier than receiving a bouquet of roses from time to time. I loved the thought of Cisne and Rose so much I went for it. With a little help from a dear blogger friend, I made my own blog logo and tweaked it around several times until I came up with the finished product you now see on my home page. What I want out of this new blog title is to help you move more gracefully throughout life, and for you to love the life you live and rediscover the beauty of it. I hope with this new makeover to encourage you in your daily life. I came across the bible verse “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today”” from Hebrews 3:13. With that said, I hope to encourage you Today regardless of what you may be going through to move gracefully/respond gracefully despite the troubles you are experiencing, and to love the life you live because God entrusted it to you because he knew you can handle what is thrown at you and rediscover the beauty of your life.  Your life is precious and I hope you remember that daily.

Women’s History Month

Reflecting on where I came from helps me to appreciate and balance what I have now. -Meghan Markle

Hi there!

This month happens to be Women’s History Month and it got me reflecting on my life as a woman and all the important women that have helped shape me into who I am today. Whether these women be internationally known or my close family members, they have all impacted my life tremendously and I couldn’t help but to express my gratitude towards them.

My mom

I love and admire my mom so much. From being the oldest of her 9 siblings to raising 6 kids to also caring for her 15+ grandkids. I honestly don’t know how she does it! She really is a SuperMujer in my books. 😉 Pun intended! I hope to  be like her with the patience to raise my own kids one day. LOL. On top of that she is an amazing cook! She really does it all and without ever complaining. Overall, all I can say is I hope to make her proud and be half the woman she is.

My grandma

I am incredibly thankful for my paternal grandmother because she is one of the reasons I got closer to God. It has been a tough journey each and every day but my faith is something I wouldn’t change for anything.  I’ve learned from her when life throws curveballs at you, just act with grace and keep moving forward. Growing up is tough but if you leave it to God, everything will turn out just fine.

Sandra Cisneros
When I started my freshman year in high school my English teacher asked me if I was related to the Latina author Sandra Cisneros. I told him there was no relation. LOL. Shortly after reading The House on Mango Street I immediately related to her also being a Mexican-American growing up in the United States. I didn’t know it then but my love of writing grew throughout my high school years and well into college. She truly has inspired me to continue writing. I mean, here I am! Just now with a blog! 🙂

J.K. Rowling

Another author that has inspired me to dream big is the amazing J.K. Rowling. I fell in love with the whole magical world she created and the muggle world as well. LOL. I dreamed of traveling to England and exploring the castles in the countryside as well as the city life in London. I’m thankful I got to experience it all two years ago. I even toured the Harry Potter Studio and it was all amazing to see the sets and costumes involved in all the movies. There’s so much more of the world to see, and I look forward to it! P.S. I wouldn’t trade the books for the movies. :p

The list could go on and on and there’s so many extraordinary women out there that I could probably write a book! 😉 So I dedicate this post to all my latinas and all of my girls out there and especially to you who are currently reading this! Thank you for being amazing women. Now get out there and celebrate Women’s History Month.

Love,

27 Things I’ve Learned in 27 Years

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Today’s my 27th birthday! It’s hard to believe I’m officially in my late 20s. How time flies! Yet, people often tell me I don’t look a day older than my early 20s. LOL. I’ll take all the compliments I can get.

This blog post is simply to reflect on what stuck out to me the most in my life this past year. I have so much to be grateful for and I truly look forward to all the wonderful things 27 have in store for me. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!

  1. The best years of my life are just starting: It’s ok to make mistakes and to start over again. If you don’t like something in your life it’s never to late to change it.
  2. Let go and let God: There are situations in your life which you simply can’t control and you just have to step back and let God step in ( and let him take care it.)
  3. Coffee is my friend: To be honest, I used to not know how to make coffee until I started my first job out of college. LOL.
  4. Never stop learning: it’s important to keep learning, whether that’s getting a new job certification or learning a new language.
  5. Travel bucket list: I’ve been back to my birthstate California twice, our nation’s capital D.C. twice, Savannah, Charleston, Paris and some parts of England. There’s many more cities, states and countries I’ve yet to see and experience!
  6. Absence makes the heart grow fonder: I say this one because last summer I was visiting family and friends in California and that was the first time me and my boyfriend were away from each for a long time (10 days!)
  7. Apologize: This is hard to do, but I guaranteed once you’ve apologized no matter how big or small the issue is you definitely feel better.
  8. Just buy the shoes: I’m the type of person that will contemplate over and over again on purchasing shoes or anything in general. Sometimes, you just gotta be kind to yourself and get the shoes. 🙂
  9. The things you regret most in life are the ones you don’t do: Lately, I’ve been telling myself to live more in the present and just do it.
  10. Love hard: Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you because you never know what life can unexpectedly bring.
  11. Being proud of my achievements big or small: I passed my CPC certification exam 2 months ago and although that has absolutely nothing to do with my college major I’m proud of myself because it’ll open up new doors in the future.
  12. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me: Sometimes it’s best to be the bigger person and recognize a messy person for who they are and completely remove them from your life.
  13. Counting my blessings: It’s easy to get caught up in what we don’t have and forget to appreciate what we DO have.
  14. Taking a chance: Don’t like your job? Update your resume and apply to new ones. Met someone new? Get to know them, it just might be the best thing to happen to you. 😉
  15. Loving myself: My favorite me time is giving myself a pedi and applying a facial mask.
  16. Being there for my friends: In times of need or simply because 🙂
  17. Wearing lipstick: Every time I put some on, I instantly feel 100 times better!
  18. Working out: Can’t believe it’s almost been a year since I joined the gym and see how much improvement I’ve made.
  19. Being proud of my culture: Both my parents are Mexican and yes I was born in America. So that makes me Mexican-American. Some days I was tacos del asada and other days I want a fat juicy cheeseburger! LOL
  20. Learn to give better directions: I can’t give directions to save my life. HAHA
  21. Loving my hair: I have such thick, curly hair that’s a pain but the days where I get compliments make me feel lucky to have my hair!
  22. Being patient: Lately I’ve seen a lot of my friends get engaged, buy homes, move out with their significant others or get married. Don’t worry, your time will come in God’s timing.
  23. Be myself: There’s no one else who’s better at being you other than YOU! Some people will like you and some will not. Guess what?! IT’S OKAY.
  24. Making God happy: Sometimes it becomes easier to make things about yourself and forget to make one on one time with Him. All it takes is a simple prayer, reading the bible, listening to a good sermon, or even just reflecting on his goodness.
  25. Moisturize: I don’t know how I went so long without a good moisturizer!
  26. Taking more pictures: I love photography but there’s certain events I wish I’d taken more photos of.
  27. Blog more/write more: I love coming across other bloggers or other writers and hope to meet some of you in the real world!

Love,
