Location: Uptown Charlotte, NC

Growing up outside of the Charlotte area has given me a completely different view of this great city. As a kid in elementary school, my teachers would often plan field trips to Discovery Place or see theaters plays in Uptown. I would also dream of the day I would one day get to work amongst the growing skyline that is now Uptown.  Fast forward years later, and my dream came true! Now as an adult, there’s no longer the fun field trips to go to, but there’s all the amazing coffee shops and restaurants around my office corner! I admit to having tried just about every place at least once. I’ve even listed a few of my favorite places below. 😉

Charlotte, it’s also known as the Queen City. It was named after German King George III’s wife Queen Charlotte during the 1760s. Just a quick fun history fact for everyone! Also, Uptown Charlotte is just another name for downtown Charlotte. However, there are two reasons why some locals refer to it as Uptown instead of downtown. The first reason, the downtown area is on a hill and some people refer to it as “going up to town”! The second reason is it sounds fancy and attracts out-of-towners. Don’t you agree!?

It’s home to the NFL Carolina Panthers, NBA Charlotte Hornets, NHL Charlotte Checkers, and Minor League Charlotte Knights teams. It’s also home to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and the Nascar Hall of Fame located in Uptown. There is plenty to see and do so if you’re not a local, make yourself a favor and come check out the Queen City! However if you’re a local, make a quick day trip to our amazing city. 🙂

My  Favorite Spots in Uptown:

  • Not Just Coffee
  • 7th Street Market
  • Coco and the Director
  • Hazelnut Creperie
  • Latta Arcade

  1. I’ve only ever been to America once and that was to Vegas for a family wedding but I’d love to visit again, there’s so many places I want to see!
